MODULE · PERCEPTA — NEW

What happens inside your store, measured.

How many people come in, how long they stay, where they go and what they look at. Percepta uses the IP cameras you already have: video is analyzed in the store and never stored. Only anonymous data reaches BOS.

YOUR IP CAMERAS · PROCESSED IN-STORE · ANONYMOUS DATA

Why Percepta

Online, you know everything. In your store, almost nothing.

With e-commerce you know how many people visited, what they looked at and how many bought. With a physical store, you usually only know what you sold. Percepta fills in the other half: how many people come in, at what time, which zones draw them in and which they walk past, and how many of those who came in ended up buying.

How it works

Your cameras, a computer in the store and BOS.

IN THE STORE

Your IP cameras

The ones you already have installed, connected over RTSP. Each one with its role: entrance, sales floor, checkout or display.

→
IN THE STORE

The Percepta agent

Runs on a mini PC connected to the same network. It detects people in the video, counts and measures, and discards the image.

→
IN BOS

Only anonymous data

Counts, time by zone and heat maps, with no identity. BOS builds the dashboards from that.

Connected to BOS

From how many came in to how many bought.

  • Store conversion: if you link the store to its location in BOS, Percepta matches entries against that location’s payments.
  • Zones drawn over your store: mark entrances, aisles, checkouts and lines on each camera’s image, by hand or starting from an AI suggestion you can adjust.
  • Period readout: the AI summarizes what happened using the numbers already calculated, without making any up, and wraps up with two or three actions to try.
  • Multiple stores: each with its own cameras, zones and time zone.
Privacy by design

It measures people without knowing who they are.

Percepta is built to count and measure, not to watch. Here’s what happens to the image, no fine print:

WHATHOW IT WORKS
VideoIt’s analyzed on the computer in the store and is never recorded or sent to BOS.
RecognitionIt doesn’t recognize anyone or store faces. The same person isn’t tracked from one camera to another or from one day to the next.
What reaches BOSCounts, time by zone and heat maps, with no identity.
Calibration snapshotTo draw the zones, each camera sends a still image with people pixelated before it leaves the store. If it couldn’t be blurred, it isn’t sent. Only one is kept per camera, in private storage.
How long it’s keptData is deleted automatically after the period you choose for each store: 13 months by default, so you can compare against the previous year.
Your camerasEach camera’s address and password stay in the store. BOS never knows them.

Measuring people in a physical space has its own rules in each country. Before turning on Percepta, we recommend reviewing its use with your legal advisor and posting signage in the store.

What you need

The minimum to get started.

IP camerasWith RTSP access, like those from the usual video surveillance brands.
A mini PC in the storeRunning Linux, on the same network as the cameras. That’s where the agent runs.
An entry lineDrawn on the door camera: without it, visitors aren’t counted.
Internet in the storeIf it drops, the agent stores the data and sends it when the connection comes back.
FAQ

What people always ask.

Does Percepta record video?
No. Video is analyzed on the computer in the store and discarded. Only counts, times and heat maps reach BOS, plus one still image per camera with people pixelated, used to draw the zones.
Does it recognize faces or identify people?
No. There’s no facial recognition or identification. A person is tracked only while the same camera sees them, to measure their path through that zone, and isn’t matched across cameras or across days.
Do I have to buy new cameras?
Usually not: Percepta works with IP cameras that allow RTSP access. What you do need is a mini PC in the store, on the same network as the cameras.
How does it calculate conversion?
It divides the payments recorded in BOS for the store’s location by the entries counted in the same period. If the store isn’t linked to a location, conversion isn’t shown.
What happens if the store’s internet goes down?
The agent keeps measuring and stores the data on the device. When the connection comes back, it sends it to BOS.
How long is the data kept?
13 months by default, to compare against the previous year. The period is set per store, between 1 month and 3 years, and expired data is deleted automatically every day.
